Air Balancing

Air balancing refers to the proportional balancing of various heating and cooling system components.

Proportional balancing is a method of balancing based on the laws of fluid flow to produce predictable results. Each point is balanced/adjusted once to the outlet with the lowest percentage over design.

In comparison to stepwise balancing, this method requires less time to balance. Large systems are balanced faster and more accurately, thus, saving more man-hours in testing and balancing HVAC air systems.

The biggest benefit of proportional balancing, is that once it is proportionately balanced and set, the ratio quantity of airflow from each point to other outlets remains the same. Even if the fan settings and branch dampers change, it will produce the same proportional distribution of air into the terminal outlets.

Advantages of air balancing services

  1. CONSISTENT TEMPERATURES THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING
Air balancing is a process that involves measuring the performance of your system to ensure optimum comfort and HVAC performance in each area.
  2. LONGER LIFESPAN FOR HVAC EQUIPMENT
Whenever an HVAC system is under stress, it has to work harder to heat and cool your building, resulting in faster wear and tear. Air balancing counters that by preventing potentially harmful substances like dust, pet dander, mold, and other buildups from collecting in your heating/air-conditioning equipment, resulting in smoother airflow.
  3. ENHANCE COMFORT LEVELS
Homes can get uncomfortable if it doesn’t receive enough cool or warm air whenever temperatures fluctuate. Air balancing is designed to target and eliminate hot or cold spots throughout the building, stabilising comfort levels.
  4. IMPROVE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
The performance of your heating and cooling systems is directly related to airflow. Improper airflow in your building will strain your system, working harder to keep temperatures at the ideal comfort level. The harder your system works, the higher your energy bills will be. So, air balancing ensures that every single ounce of energy produced by your HVAC system is put to good use.
  5. ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR REPLACING YOUR SYSTEM
If your HVAC system fails to properly heat or cool your building, it may be tempting to replace it entirely. However, in some circumstances, air balancing can help restore your system to maximum operating capacity by eliminating uneven airflow between rooms.

    1. PINPOINT UNDERLYING ISSUES
By testing your HVAC system for airflow inconsistencies, an HVAC professional may gain a better understanding of your system’s performance and identify obscure issues in your HVAC system, including blockages, loose ductwork and damaged/leaky air ducts.
    2. CONTACT THE EXPERIENCED HVAC PROFESSIONALS
To ensure that your system receives the best air balancing services it deserves, always opt for the best in the business. The experts at T&C HYDRONICS can perform perform the full range of heating, cooling, and air quality inspection services to resolve any issues your HVAC system has.
